South Shore Buttress
In June 2024 during my week long trip to Batchewana Bay Ontario I spent a day across the border. I crossed through Sault Ste Marie and took a small highway to Pictured Rocks National Park. It was an entirely unplanned side quest. The park features some incredible rock formations that can been seen best from the boat tour. These rocks were shaped by the lake, its glaciers and the volcanic activity of the area 1.1 billion years ago. I have plans to do more works featuring these shoreline treasures. This rock, looks somewhat like a gothic church, with heavy buttresses creating archways into the “building”.
This original painting is 30” high and 24” wide with a depth of 1.5”. The artwork wraps around the edges. This provides a clean, finished, high-end look and makes the work ready to display without the need for a frame.
This painting was part of the “Superior Rocks” Art Show and Exhibition, open during the month of April 2026.
