Drawing was one of the first things I learned to do as a child. Pencils, crayons and pencil crayons were stuffed into bike baskets and bags and taken to secret hideaways in local forests where I would draw to my hearts content surrounded by the forest, its sounds, smells and feelings. Today, drawing is my go to skill to work out ideas before committing them to canvas or larger paper. Some drawings I will not part with. Others you may find here, available for you to enjoy.

GIFTED - The backbone of modern society often are the farmers and rural caretakers of the land that provide us with food. Farming homesteads are an interesting subject that I will likely explore further in the coming years. This painting created with water-based inks is an interpretation of a family homestead, its expansive fields and out buildings. The early autumn sky was heavy with thick cloud formations that reflected the sun’s light.

This original watercolour painting is 18” high and 24” wide on 140lb watercolour paper. ALL artwork in the Sketches, Drawings and Experiments section arrive without frames or hanging hardware. Small work is shipped flat in padded envelopes. Larger works are rolled and shipped in a tube. However, if you prefer, I can source framing for you and provide that as an add-on option. Princess Point is a favourite spot of mine to observe nature as well and create art en plein air (outdoors). This piece features the colour of autumn on the trees. Created with a rhythm of colour, line and shape this watercolour and inks painting has an almost surreal abstract feel.

Autumn palettes bring colour to drab or dark corners of your home or office. This painting will certainly brighten any decor.

This original painting is 18” high and 24” wide on watercolour paper. Frame is not included in the price. Please inquire if you wish me to frame this for you. Ships in a tube without frame.

This is one of two studies done outdoors on location for the studio painting; Grand Reflections in Paris. This study is created with conte, a harder form of charcoal. Artists will use a basic medium such as conte or charcoal or graphite in order to map out values, lightness/darkness of forms. This work helps the artist when creating the final piece.

Conte is impermanent however this piece has been sealed with a light spray fixative and once framed will last a long time. Created on 60lb mixed media paper and sealed with a light spray fixative.
